Audacity 4 is a free, open source, multi-track audio editor and recorder for macOS, Windows, GNU/Linux and other operating systems. Audacity 4 includes some spectral editing capabilities and a fresh new interface. Audacity 4 has a new Split tool, the ability to drop clips where you want, select groups of clips, group clips, create gain envelopes, add trim and stretch handles, mark points and regions, and loop regions. Per-track metering is now included in Audacity 4. The UI is now fully customizable in Audacity 4. The included effects windows have all been redesigned. Open-standard LV2 plugins load right alongside VST3 and Audio Units, with no wrappers required. Full details at the link above.
